MenuFrequent Asked Questions

What can I expect from my first session?
It is important that you find someone who you can relate to. Someone you can build trust with and who understands you and why you are coming to counselling. A big part of the first session is about exploring if we can work together. Once this has been established further sessions can be booked.

Will I form a contract with you?
One of the first things a counsellor will do is to go over a formal verbal agreement (contract) outlining confidentiality. This is an agreement between counsellor and client. It is there for the safety of you and the counsellor. Included would be such things as; confidentiality, number of sessions, complaints procedure, times, fees etc.

Why choose a specialist practice for couples?
Many couples find themselves arguing time and time again about the same thing/s. Poor communication skills (among many others) lead to frustration and anger. Cracks start to appear and couples unconsciously stop investing in one and other. Counselling allows you together to explore difficult/sensitive issues where appropriate. It challenges, teaches and helps to gain awareness which can help promote change.
